URBEX

Behind Closed Doors Urbex: Why are the doors closed if there’s nothing behind them worth seeing? If there’s a way in I’ll take it, take a look around and take some pictures. It’s amazing what you can find behind closed doors. All the photos on this website are taken at locations that are generally considered to be off limits to the public. Forgotten and abandoned places often hold stunning architecture, left to decay.

BENO: A collection of links by Beno, including many Urbex resources.

Cave Clan: Cave Clan is a group dedicated to urban exploration. We are much like traditional cave exploring groups in that we venture into places other people would not usually think of going, just to see what's there. Unlike traditional caving groups we don't limit ourselves to natural cavities. We will explore pretty much anything, natural or man-made.

Dark Passage: A collection of urbex photography by Julia Solis, the founder of Ars Subterranea: The Society for Creative Preservation.

Infiltration: Despite the abandoned-seeming nature, this website is still active and maintained. While new stories are no longer posted, we are honored to continue this site in memory of Ninjalicious' (1973-2005) groundbreaking and charistmatic work within the field of Urban Exploration.

Infiltration (Web Archive Edition): Infiltration offers a mix of the practice and theory of urban exploration in areas not designed for public usage. The feature articles from each issue are now online here, but to get the whole picture you'll have to send for the paper version.

JINX MAGAZINE: Jinx is the magazine of Worldwide Urban Adventure. Jinx publishes its reports on urban exploration and international adventure here, along with dossiers of its Friends and Enemies. The magazine has been published, irregularly, since 1997. It has been online-only since 2001.

Pepper Urbex: I’m an urban explorer from the Netherlands, exploring abandoned places in Europe with my girlfriend Lia and my son Twan. Please leave a comment if you like or dislike some of my posts, I like to learn from my visitors. Thanks! Pepper Black

The San Francisco Suicide Club: Have you ever explored a subterranean sewer at night with forty other people; climbed three stories on a swinging rope ladder to dine on the roof of a condemned building; staged practical jokes you’ve always fantasized about? No…? How about dinner at Rev. Moon’s or talking a policeman into hitting you with a pie? Well… we hadn’t either. The surviving members of the S.F. SUICIDE CLUB have agreed to EXPERIENCE THINGS THEY HAVEN’T EXPERIENCED BEFORE.

Shot Hotspot: We use sites like Flickr and Panoramio to build up an idea of which areas of the world are the best for photography. Use us to scout locations for photo shoots, abandoned places, landscapes, holiday snaps, selfies, and more!

28 Days Later: UK urban exploring forum and resources.

Urban Exploration Resource: Information for exploration, vadding and urban vadding, tunnel vadding, steam tunnels, spelunking, urban spelunking, underground tunnels and passages. Information about Canada, Toronto, Ontario, and many other countries.

UrbanX UK: UrbanX is a UK based urban explorer. Recent projects range from crawling through the drainage system beneath his city, to living with anarchist squatters, to living in Chernobyl with the workers and guards. He even recently accessed the cockpit of a 747 at a live airport. Landmarks ranging from Dachau concentration camp, to Tower Bridge and Battersea Power Station have also recently been explored. This website is updated every five days, so keep an eye on the news feed for updates!

Urbex Alberta: UEA wrapped up awhile ago, most of the main members have moved out of province, all the storm drains have been explored, and high property values have kept abandoned buildings to a minimum. Most everything from 2007 onward was posted to Facebook or personal blog sites, and the UEA site was abandoned. This site is now an archive of some of the photos that UEA has collected over the years. Note This site is thoroughly abandoned now. Maybe check at UER for something more active.

Urbex Devil UK: "I ain't no tourist."

Urbex Playground: First of all, Urbex Playground is about urban and rural photography lovers. It is the respect of the places we have visited and to whom we have a great admiration. By its contents, Urbex Playground wishes to preserve the memory of these abandoned, destroyed or dilapidated places who have made the glory of our fathers and for which today we have, alas, not enough compassion.

Urbex UK: Why are there so many UK based websites on urbex? Not that I'm complaining but goddamn.

Urbex Underground: The anarchist's guide to exploration.

VJRurbex: Urbex photography collections and safety tips.

Whatever's Left: We’re probably all born with a sense of curiosity. Exploring for me is just taking that curiosity and fulfilling it. I started this website about fifteen years ago now – it was just a place to document my thoughts, words and photos from exploring. I call it exploring other people will call it various names. Wikipedia have a nice summary of what it really entails – ‘The examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of human civilisation’.
